Are you a fit? Six checks decide it.

Podcast-led outbound pays off for a specific kind of B2B team: senior buyers, deals worth $15k or more, and a host with two free hours a week. Read the six checks, then take the score. It routes you to the right starting point, or tells you plainly that it's not yet.

A two-minute B2B podcast lead generation assessment.

This B2B podcast lead generation assessment asks six questions about deal size, buyers, host time and your sales motion, then tells you whether the channel fits and what to do next.

// who_its_for

Senior buyers. Real deal sizes.

The interview works when the guest is someone you would want to sell to, and when one closed deal pays for months of the show.

This is for you if

  • You sell B2B with a first-year contract value of $15k or more.
  • Your buyer is a VP, founder or partner you can name by title, stage and niche.
  • A founder or exec can host for ~2 hours a week. Thirty minutes per guest; research, invitations, editing and clips run without them.
  • Someone picks up a warm conversation the same week: the host, an AE or the Closing Desk.
  • You can reach 300+ accounts that match the ICP.
  • You will judge the channel on day-60 data, not week-three impressions.

Skip it if

  • You sell to consumers. The format needs a business buyer who values being featured.
  • Your ACV is under $5k. The program costs more than the deals it can produce.
  • The goal is downloads or audience growth. We report recorded guests, opportunities and revenue, not plays.
  • Nobody will go on mic or camera. Guests say yes to a peer, not to a logo.
  • You need pipeline from a cold start in 30 days. Invitations go live on day 18, after mailbox warm-up.

Between $5k and $15k ACV? It can work on Pilot if win rates are strong, but it's tight: at $10k ACV, Pilot's $46,800 a year needs about 5 closed deals to break even. See the pipeline math with your own numbers. Model assumptions

Six checks. Each has a number.

Each check maps to one question in the score below. Here is why it matters and where the line sits.

[01] acvpass: ≥ $15k

A deal size that pays for the show

At $40k ACV, Engine ($82,800 a year) breaks even on about 2 closed deals. At $15k it takes about 5.5. At $5k it takes about 16.6, roughly double what 8 recorded guests a month close at sample rates.

pass: ≥ $15k · gray: $5k–$15k · stop: < $5k
[02] buyerpass: vp+

A buyer you can name

We source guests from a spec: title, stage, funding, niche, trigger event. “Ops leaders” can't be sourced. “VP Finance at Series B–D logistics software companies” can, and that person says yes to being featured.

in: title + stage + niche → out: 300-name guest list
[03] hostpass: ~2 hrs / wk

A host with two hours

Thirty minutes per recording, a short brief before, a follow-up note after. Research, invitations, pre-interviews, editing and clips run without the host. The host is the one part nobody can delegate.

host: ~2 hrs / wk · producer: everything else
[04] handoffpass: same week

A sales motion that takes warm conversations

On Engine and Network every recorded guest lands in your CRM with pre-interview notes; on Pilot you get the notes and your team logs them. Someone has to follow up: the host, an AE, or the Closing Desk on those two tiers. If deals only start from demo requests, the handoff goes cold.

handoff → crm notes → follow-up in days
[05] marketpass: ≥ 300

A market big enough to invite

The first research pass is 300 guests. At 34% acceptance and 23% of accepted guests recorded, that is about 23 recordings: under three months on Engine. Smaller markets run dry before past-guest referrals start.

300 invited → ~102 accepted → ~23 recorded
[06] patiencepass: day 60

Patience for a 60-day read

Invitations go live on day 18, once the mailboxes have warmed. First recordings land around day 25. The first pipeline review runs on day 60 with real acceptance, qualification and opportunity data.

Score your fit in two minutes.

Pick the answer closest to today, not next year. Each answer adds points toward 100. Three answers stop the score outright: consumer buyers, deals under $5k, or no host. Three more (under 100 accounts, no follow-up owner, a 30-day verdict) cap the result at possible.

// faq · fit

Fit questions, straight answers.

Four questions teams ask before they apply. Program, guests and commercials are covered in the full FAQ.

Who is this not for?

Consumer brands, products under $5k ACV, and teams that want downloads or audience growth as the goal. It also fails when nobody will host: guests say yes to a peer, not to a brand.

If one of those describes you today, the playbook is the better first step.

Does it work for fundraising?

Yes. Founders host investors instead of pitching them: partners and angels come on as guests, and the relationship starts before the deck. Most raises run as a Launch Sprint plus Host Coaching.

In one example program, a pre-seed AI founder hosted 27 investors in 7 weeks Example data. See founders raising a round or case file CF-05.

Does it work for agencies and consultancies?

Yes, when retainers clear $15k a year. Guests are executives at target accounts, roundtables put three of them in one conversation, and past guests introduce their peers.

Example: a 30-person consultancy booked $610k from 16 episodes, with 9 referrals from past guests Example data. See agencies & consultancies or case file CF-04.

What ACV makes sense?

$15k or more. Divide the yearly program cost by your ACV to get the closed deals you need to break even. On Engine ($82,800 a year): about 2 deals at $40k, 5.5 at $15k, 16.6 at $5k Model assumptions.

Below $15k the math gets tight; below $5k it rarely works. Run the numbers with your own win rate.
